Instructional Specialist
I graduated from Mansfield, received my BS in elementary education at Arkansas Tech, and obtained my Master’s Degree at the University of Arkansas. I am a National Board Certified teacher who completed the renewal process. One of the most exciting accomplishments I received was the title- Master Economist. There are very few of us in the state and we present at the REAL Conference in Little Rock every summer. We assist teachers across the state, by showing them how easy it is to implement economics into everyday lessons. I am also a member of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank, where I meet with teachers from six other states to discuss economic resources for K-12. In 2018, I received Arkansas Rural Education Association Teacher of the Year! It was a great honor to be recognized by teachers across the state, but I share it with all of my colleagues, parents, and those in the community. As a mathematics supervisor for Pearson, I advise novice teachers from across the nation on how to improve their teaching practices. Anyone who knows me, realizes that I love to learn and I firmly believe teachers who stop learning have students who stop learning.

I second grade for 24 years at Hartford Elementary Four of those years were spent teaching a first/second and second/third grade split. When Hartford merged with Hackett, I was assigned a first grade position and taught that for three years. Then, I was offered an Instructional Specialists position and I LOVE it. Now I get to see all of the elementary students and hopefully instill in them a LOVE for economics and STEM.
Before I became a teacher, I was a paralegal at Jones, Gilbreath, Jackson, and Moll. I have also worked for an insurance agency and assisted at the post office.
I am married to Johnny Harp who is the current Agriculture teacher at Hackett. I have three lovely daughters and five grandchildren. Since my husband teaches animal science, I have managed to avoid having any house pets. The show animals that his students raise for the fair are the closest things I have to pets.
Going shopping with my mother to locate bargains is my favorite thing to do. Creating lessons that are FUN and engaging is what I do when I am not teaching.
