Resource Teacher
I graduated from Fort Smith Northside in 1998.
I attended UAFS (when it was Westark College) from 1997-2000.
I finished my Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 at Arkansas Tech University.
I also went back and earned my Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas in 2012!
I have earned my Associates of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Arts Degree in History Education, and a Master of Education in Special Education.
I’m certified in 7th- 12th Social Studies, 4th – 8th English, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and 4th – 12th Special Education Instructionalist.
I attend WAY too many of these (as my kids know), but I try to attend the Arkansas Council for Exception Children Convention in October every year.
I started teaching here at Hackett in the fall of 2004. I am starting my 15th year here at Hackett. This year I will be teaching 11th and 12th grade English, 11th and 12th grade Math, and, for the first time, a Transitions Class for our program.
I taught at Charleston for a year, and substituted for Fort Smith Public Schools.
Before I became a teacher, I taught private flute lessons, worked at Waldonbooks, and worked at the gift shop inside Mercy Hospital.
I have one son, Nicholas, who is 10 years old and goes to school at CTK in Fort Smith. He has ADD as well, so I totally understand your plight as a parent of a student in my program. We do have a family dog, a cockapoo named Cubbie.
I am a July baby! I love the color purple, and I love to read. I work on needlecrafts when I’m not working on something for school, and I also work with my son in Cub Scouts. I have traveled overseas to Germany twice and love visiting places. Coffee and Diet Cherry Diet Dr. Peppers help me to function in the mornings and during the day!
