Gifted & Talented
I graduated from Havana High School in Havana, Arkansas. I then graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, with degrees in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I went on to Arkansas Tech University to receive my Gifted and Talented Education certification.
As Gifted and Talented teacher and Coordinator, I work in several different capacities. I teach whole group Enrichment in Kindergarten, first, and second grades. I teach pull-out classes of GT student in 3rd-6th grades. Teachers of core courses in 7th and 8th grades have training in Teaching in Secondary Content, in order to enrich learning of gifted students in those grades. Students in 9th-12th grade may take Pre-AP and AP classes. I meet with 7th-12th grade GT students monthly.
I have taught for over twenty-five years in the classroom and in Gifted and Talented Education. As well as Hackett, I have taught in Magazine and Fort Smith schools in Arkansas.
